Excellent Product Has Not Changed - Credit Repair Business Software Critique

By Gavis Rogers On January 1, 2012 Under Computers

So, I figure, if they got rid of such a useful baseline measure of your overall finances, they must have introduced something newer and better, right” They have an applet that you can add to your home page that shows your spending for the period. The time and annoyance really adds up if you make, as I did, half a dozen attempts to get the import process to work correctly. But the real problem was in the results.

It makes keeping track of my finances so quick and easy. I wouldn’t be able to manage without it (well, I could, but it was not as easy, as quick, or as much fun). It appears now that Quicken CANNOT see QuickBooks files. It would have been nice if they just told me that!

I am still receiving OL-221-a errors when trying to manually download like I always have since 2001. There is actually no way to directly contact Intuit by phone anymore. I’m extremely unhappy with this program. What a waste of $80, I only updated because I kept receiving notifications that on line banking would not be supported anymore because the program was 3 years old.

For any software geniuses out there, now would be a great time to throw a product together and compete with Quicken. And please, give me a way to see my overall Cash Flow in an easy to understand, management level graph, on a single page.

After searching for various alternatives, both online and standalone, I ended up selecting Quicken Home and Business 2011 (being self-employed I need the business module). At first I was quite nervous about Quickens ability to load almost 10-years’ worth of history and be able to make sense of it. I don’t know why there were negative reviews here. This is also good for small business to see if you’re making a profit. The software is simply not logical, even for one with a fair amount of history with such things (an early adopter of Microsoft Money back in the 80’s, I transitioned to the intuit products in the early 90’s). If I had it to do over again, I’d have started from scratch, using QuickBooks and manually re-creating my history via account downloads.

I also enjoy the categorizing of each expense. Broader choices also mean better record keeping. The navigation completely changed which is OK if it is improved - it is a mess. Single click update often fails on my US Bank accounts and I have to do each one separately and type in my challenge questions about 8 times. Quicken 2011 created some new Category Groups (eg rental income) and my existing category group selections were all skewed to the wrong selections. To make matters worse, the cash flow reports using Category Groups now take 2-3 minutes to update in 2011 versus 2-3 seconds in 2010. Plus, all our accounts are automatically updated, unlike Quick Books which requires manual input. If you don’t have employees, Quicken is a small business owner’s dream. It seems like Intuit has suffered a major breakdown in software quality. It’s time to start looking for alternatives.

I found this product very lacking. wood kitchen storage cabinets.
